Job Summary
Performs semi-skilled work to maintain and improve Boone County parks and recreational areas. Responsibilities include groundskeeping, minor repairs, and operation of various equipment. Duties are carried out under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent and Foreman.
Major Essential Duties
Perform landscaping, mowing, litter control, and routine grounds maintenance.
Clean and maintain park facilities, buildings, and equipment.
Operate vehicles and equipment such as mowers, tractors, trucks, sprayers, and turf equipment.
Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and roofing repairs.
Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and basic repair of vehicles and tools.
Assist with snow removal and other seasonal tasks.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minor Essential Duties
Ensure all parks remain clean and safe for public use.
Support special event setup and cleanup.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May help oversee seasonal staff as directed.
Relationships
Reports to Parks Superintendent and Parks Foreman.
Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and the public.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in ground maintenance, construction, or similar manual labor fields is beneficial.
Language Skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math proficiency required.
Reasoning Skills
Ability to identify and solve basic operational issues.
Understand and apply safety procedures and job-specific protocols.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Kentucky driver’s license required.
CDL preferred or must be willing to obtain within first 6 months of employment.
Other Knowledge and/or Skills
Knowledge of lawn care, park maintenance, and basic repair techniques.
Ability to operate mowers, trucks, hand tools, and construction equipment.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform heavy labor.
Manual Dexterity
Requires both gross and fine motor skills for tool operation, paperwork, and driving.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, lift up to 80 lbs, and operate equipment.
May be required to work extended hours during special events.
Work Environment
Work is performed in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and moisture.
Noise levels are moderate; exposure to snow, rain, and water immersion may occur.
Comments
Must be 18 years or older, bondable, and maintain confidentiality as needed.
Must present a neat, professional appearance.
Must attend required training and be willing to obtain a CDL if not already held.
Hours:
Standard 40-hour work week (Monday-Friday 7AM-3PM)
Some weekend/evening hours will be required, as the need arises
