New Build or Older Slab? Houston Homeowner Questions
We just closed on a newly built house in the Houston suburbs. Should we coat the garage before we move in?
Many owners like to, since an empty garage is simpler for a crew to work in than one full of boxes and cars. Ask your builder whether anything about the new slab should be noted first.
Our Houston area neighborhood has a homeowners association. Do we need its approval to coat the garage floor?
Each association sets its own rules, so read your HOA documents or check with the management company before you book, especially if the project includes a driveway, walkway or anything else visible from the street.
Our young family and our pets recently settled in a new Houston subdivision. What should we plan for on install day?
Ask the company where children and pets should stay while the crew works, which doors and rooms will be off limits, and when it will be fine to walk through the garage again. Having that plan in place ahead of time keeps the day calmer for everyone.
How should I read a company’s Google reviews before booking?
Look past the star average to reviews that mention jobs like yours, such as a garage, porch or shop floor, and check how recent they are. Photos posted by customers and the way a company replies to feedback can tell you a lot about how it treats people.
Should a franchise location be treated differently from an independent local business?
Both kinds of companies appear on this list, and each can do excellent work. What matters more is who will be on your job, so ask whether its own staff will handle the install and who will be your contact from quote to cleanup.

The Standards Behind These Fifteen
A company earns a spot here with a Google star rating of 4.5 or more that at least fifteen customers have helped shape, a base inside the 10 county Houston metro, and either floor coatings as its main trade or, for painters and garage makeover firms, floor coating work that shows up in its Google reviews. The list order reflects a weighted formula handing the most credit to strong ratings resting on a big pile of reviews, and with a 5.0 across all fifteen, review volume shaped most of the order. Money plays no part in who appears or where.
